Land Acknowledgement:
I am a settler of mixed German and British descent and I would like to acknowledge that I live on the traditional and unceded territory of the Secwépemc people, specifically within the lands stewarded by the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc. For thousands of years, the Secwépemc people have cared for and protected these lands, building a lasting relationship with the land, water, and all living beings. These lands have supported many generations of my ancestors, myself and will continue to support my descendants, through food, water, air, and shelter. I have been and continue to be honoured to have had the opportunity to grow and learn on these lands. I want to say thank you to the Secwépemc people for caring for and protecting the land, all the living things that support the ecosystem, and the land itself for supporting the people who live here.
Travels:
Travelling has always been deeply important to me. Because I did not have many opportunities to travel while growing up, I made it a priority once I became an adult. I enjoy immersing myself in different cultures and learning about the diverse ways people live, learn, and experience the world. These experiences have broadened my perspective, deepened my appreciation for diversity, and helped me maintain an open-minded and inclusive approach in my teaching practice.
